Costa Rica has been named one of the happiest places in the world, a country filled with smiles and positivity. It also has an average life expectancy of 80 years old.  Being surround by nature might be the recipe to a longer life. During my 2 week trip and 21 hours of driving…here are some things I’ve learned: Living in Costa Rica is simple, no luxury items, nothing fancy. Groceries are not plentiful in smaller areas. It’s all about using the resources you have and not wasting.  Costa Ricans are call Ticos Nature and Wildlife are everywhere and you find animals big and small wondering around, after all it’s their land.  They say “con mucho gusto” for you are welcome instead of “de nada” The toilets are super low and most places do not allow you to put toilet paper in the toilet  Typical dish is Casado, if you enjoy rice and beans with a variety of proteins you can find these in the Sodas. Manuel Antonio, a destination favourite here in Costa Rica has wonderful beaches, restaurants and of course wildlife. We stayed at a lovely B&B, Nova which was in between Quepos and Manuel Antonio. After settling in we decided to drive into Quepos just in time to catch the sunset and have Rob crapped on by the troop of birds flying around. Later that night we heard about some live music and decided to check it out....and ended up meeting Mike from Toronto, the drum engineer from The Tragically Hip and The Rolling Stones. He was quite the character and made the night even more memorable, he told us to meet him again the following night at another bar where he would be playing the drums so we did. Our time in Playa Junquillal was incredible, there is nothing like vitamin D and salty sea water to feel alive. G uanacaste, Costa Rica offers tourists year-round   sunny weather, amazing beaches and rural landscapes filled with forests. It is also the “Golden Coast” of Costa Rica and is a top destination for beachgoers. This was only made better by having unexpected company during our time here. Our cousins (Matt, Katie and Abby) happened to be only 1km away and made this part of the trip even sweeter. We enjoyed some fantastic Costa Rican meals, beautiful beaches and extraordinary sunsets together and made some lasting memories too!
