The Snowflakes Have Left The Sunshine State

Can’t believe today is our last day in Florida. We have been filling the last four months with lifelong memories both here and on our getaways. Living the life of a snowflake (not quite snowbirds… yet) has even been better than we ever imagined. Our last week in standard Cinapri form has been packed with excitement. Why rest when there is always something to do!

Our Favourite, Gulf Stream Beach

We started the week off with aunt and my cousins, who are down for a visit on Friday night so we decided to do a little bar hopping on the Delray strip and plan to end up there tonight for some St Patrick’s Day celebrations.

Last Saturday was a full day of celebrations. In one day we managed to attend a Parade, welcome the Panchmatia family to our condo and head to Miami to celebrate the wedding of our friends, Javier and Vera. Told you the Cinapri’s get lots done in a day!

We had the pleasure of attending the very popular, St. Patrick’s Day parade. We’ve always heard the talk but wow they were not kidding. They take this full day event very seriously. It is an annual event that the takes place on the Saturday before March 17th and eagerly awaited by whole city, apparently. The entire 2km strip was a sea of green with people settled up in their chairs and coolers, in anticipation of the noon parade.

Later in the afternoon we headed back to our condo to greet our friends Alka, Mehul and Rahil, who would be staying with us for a few days to experience the Delray effect! After a little tour and a welcome drink, each family went their own way for the night knowing our Cinapri-Panchmatia adventure would begin for real the next day.

So down to Miami, Rob and I went ready to take in the Wynwood nightlife. Our friends Javier (who we’ve know for almost 26 years)and Vera recently got married and it was time to celebrate with the newlyweds. We had a wonderful dinner at Bakan and then thought we would hit the club. Let’s just say ….. wow it is quite the scene and I probably should have worn some makeup and heels but oh well, go with what you’ve got. Surprisingly I got into La Vitoria even without the Botox, red soles heals and missing the memo on lingerie night wear! Great experience, did feel like I was in a room with my students at times but so glad I can say I partied in Miami even though I’m almost 50!

Let’s Get at his Miami Party Started

The rest of the week we showed our guests why we love Delray. Gave them a taste of the Salt Life, especially Rahil who learned to ride the waves! You just have to experience it to fully understand why we can’t get enough of this place. So Alka, have you been sold yet?

In case anyone is wondering, we have continued to work hard at Pickleball and will miss the flexibility of playing several times a week. We are especially grateful to our Pickleball friends who have helped us improve our game. Greg, Lori and Dyaeli have not only become great friends but we are so grateful for all your coaching over the last few months. Until we play again ….. meet you on the court next time we are in town?

Packing up today has been bittersweet, even though our next adventure is going to be a trip of a lifetime our time here has been priceless. Thank you Delray for making it easy to create a wonderful home in the Sunshine State.

  1. Thank you for an amazing time Karla & Rob! Not sure we can keep up with you guys, but we certainly look forward to trying! We have a few more years to become seasoned “salters” & “snowflakes”! 😘 🌊 😎
