Rain Forest to the Cloud Forest

I can say with absolutely certainty that La Fortuna needs to be seen if you ever venture to CR.  Our day in La Fortuna was a mix of hiking to the Arenal Volcano, hiking and swimming in rainforest waterfalls, soaking in hot springs, and spotting animals in the trees. We found a great tour on Viator that got us to all the hot spots in one day and included lunch, snacks and beverages. On the tour we met some great people from Switzerland, Netherlands and England. I would have to say that the waterfall for me was the best part of the day. I loved the hike and climbing over the rocks to get as close as I could to the waterfall. This time we remembered to bring our water shoes which were definitely a must! Vamos a Costa Rica!

Okay this place is incredible! So glad we picked this as our newest adventure. Costa Rica has always been a place I wanted to visit, since it could have been where I grew up. When I was around 15 years old, my dad got offered a job down here and obviously he didn’t take it but I’ve often wondered what opportunity I missed out on.   We flew out this morning on a direct flight from Fort Lauderdale to San José on one of my favourite airlines, Spirit! Seriously awesome crew and way more room than Air Canada Rouge. Going through customs was some serious business. They wanted to know what your occupation was and proof of your return flight and accommodation. Once we made it through, they have conveniently placed a SIM card desk in baggage claim and for $20 you can get more than enough for your visit.  Next we set off to pick up our rental car and that’s when our 3 hour adventure to our first stop began. The drive to La Fortuna was full of twists and turns along narrow roads (which are shar

Happy 2023 Everyone! Welcome to a new year, new chapter and the chance to create a new story.  Like most beginning, there are highs and lows. Our first day of the year was no different. Thanks to the wacky airline issues these past few weeks our friends had their flight cancelled and New Years 2023 would not start as we had planned. We continued with our plans to head to Las Olas for a nice dinner but no one was in the mood to party. The evening consisted of eating Cheesecake Factory dessert and hanging out on the couch, anxiously waiting for midnight so we could go to bed! To make up for that low, the weather Gods decided to grant us amazing weather all week. We decided to travel to some new beaches in West Palm. spend some long afternoons on our Delray Beach and enjoy some beachfront restaurants. Matteo and Rob took a morning to visit some high end car dealerships in Miami. Simone and I don’t get the car thing but it was definitely a high for them because they couldn’t stop talking a

Well, this has been quite a year! A year to be thankful, a year to be grateful and definitely filled with memories. It began a little unexpected, but proved to be one of the best years of learning and growth not only for me, but for my family as well. We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, and we’ve learned to take nothing for granted. Many of our experiences this year would never been possible without having an open mind, trusting in God and believing that anything is possible. As with the beginning of each new year, one always thinks what’s going to happen? With all the uncertainties of the last couple of years, although we had planned for many things, we were not sure how it was all going to turn out.    As usual everything always happens for a reason and things have turned out just as they were suppose to…but better! This last week of 2022 has brought even more hope, love and appreciation for how blessed we are. Our Christmas Cruise turned out to be one of our best Christmases yet. Spending i

Merry Christmas to all our family and friends near and far...this year our travels are taking us to the sea to celebrate Christmas. Just packing up the last few things this morning as we head to the cruise ship port in Fort Lauderdale and hope the cooler weather heading to Florida doesn't quite make it to the Caribbean.  As we spent some time just relaxing with Simone this week, we took a little road trip down to the Keys and headed to Key Largo for a couple of nights. Key Largo is the first of the fabulous Florida Keys and the self proclaimed “Dive Capital of the World” because of the living coral reef a few miles offshore. Rob loves to SCUBA dive, and it was a great opportunity for him to experience some of the best diving here in Florida. While he did his thing Simone and I checked out some local shops, enjoyed amazing Cuban coffee and empanadas.  We also visited the John Pennekamp Coral Reef Park an underwater marine park located in the mangroves. It was full of natural beauty
