Madeira is More Than Just My Last Name

We’ve made it to the last leg of our year of adventure! This one is a family affair with some time to explore and learn a little more about where I come from. What better place to start than Madeira Island just off the coast of Portugal and nestled in the Canary Islands. You knew it, I had to take one more trip back to my Happy Place...Delray Beach. Due to some circumstances beyond my control we had to keep this trip short and I didn't want to be too far from home. Getting to the Las Verdes gates always brings me joy. Simone and Liya were great company and made this last trip to Florida before the end of our year of travel very memorabl

I believe travel is an opportunity to dial into your kid, meet them where they are, and strengthen your relationship. Not only was I able to bond with Matteo but it also gave the child (Simone) left behind a chance to connect and build a stronger relationship with her dad. Beautiful Views From Within The Fort Why Puerto Rico you ask? I did a google flights search and it came up at a reasonable price and I had never been there, so why not?  San Juan and El Yunque not only has stunning beaches and an amazing eco-system but it also the home of the Pina Colada.  Being in American territory, I was expecting it to be very "Americanized", but it was filled with Puerto Rican culture at every turn. We got to try th
