Pickleball is Cheaper Than Therapy

Happy Friday…How is it December already???

New days in Delray Beach bring on new adventures and opportunities to try new things.  I had been thinking of taking some tennis lesson while I was down here but with caring for the folks it didn't fit into the plans. For the past few years we have been hearing about this popular game call Pickleball which is a mash-up of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. Rob and I decided to watch a couple of videos (lunch and learns), order a pickleball set and give it a try.  Luckily we have courts right next to the pool and this way the parents can hang by the pool while we give this game a shot. Being highly competitive, it's definitely the game for me and I get a great workout in too! I'm told that pickleball is a wonderful alternative for older players who may havephysical limitations. Now that Rob is 50 we need to find activities that are more appropriate for him and avoid him getting hurt. 😂😂

After just a few days we are starting to get the hang of it and hopefully we will get to a point where we can feel confident enough to play with the Pickleball Club here at Las Verdes!

The weather has been amazing and we have taken advantage of being outdoors as much as possible. This week's adventure was a trip to Costco where the moms were very excited to eat Churros.

We played Uno on the beach and took a few short walks along the shoreline.  I haven't been successful in getting my mother-in-law to come to Zumba with my mom and I, but Rob did join us this morning for a cardio workout with our new Zumba friends. I did however get my mother-in-law to do two laps around the complex and to her it was a marathon. I guess not everyone has my love for exercise! lol

Last night, we took a break from our nightly 5 Crowns card game and went to Coconut Creek Casino to try our luck. The only one who got lucky was Anna my mother-in-law, but she had been scratching her hand all week and she claims that's her sign for a trip to the casino. Playing the machines is something she still remembers to do and gives her joy.

Let's see what this weekend has in store for us! Perhaps we can convince them to take a little road trip. Maybe to West Palm or try out Riviera Beach? Or we will just let them enjoy the comfort of being in a place that is familiar and make some more memories.

Enjoy the weekend everyone! Remember aging is just another word for living...so keep living!

  1. I took pickleball lessons last spring and had so much fun. It is beyond huge around here. I used to play tennis so I am pretty good at it and it’s so much easier on the body with the ball being lighter and the court smaller. That’s so fun that you guys tried it!
