As Luck Would Have It!

It’s been a beautiful week here back in Delray Beach filled with some unexpected moments but great weather. The most important thing is to embrace each day and be grateful no matter what, everything always happens for a reason! Rob has been busy catching up on work after being away for two weeks in Costa Rica.  I’ve gotten back to my morning routine of exercising, decluttering the condo and catching up with family and friends. Don’t know how I’m ever going back to real life again!

Our first surprise of the week came last Thursday afternoon when we heard that we would be going to see Billy Joel on Friday night. We had tried to get tickets but it was sold out and the re-sale ticket prices were a bit too much even for Billy. My father in-law used his  connections at the Hard Rock Casino in Fort Lauderdale, and as luck would have it, he was able to score us some tickets. Oh what a night… he was at the top of his game and played an amazing play list with all the favourites. I guess gambling does have its benefits!

My love of Billy Joel started when my sister in-law Mary Anne and I were barely 20 years old and decided to go to his concert. It was on January 22, 1994 at Maple Leaf Gardens.  We were so excited and bought nose bleed tickets because that’s all we could afford.  As we managed our way through the crowd we were approached by some crew who asked if we wanted to exchange our tickets for front row seats. Mary-Anne thought it was a scam but nope as luck would have it we got to be right up front with the Piano Man.

I’ve seen a few other concerts but we got lucky again with Billy Joel. On July 19, 2018 we travelled to NYC to take in Billy Joel at Madison Square Gardens with Chantale and Chris who are also fans.  As luck would have it, it happened to be his 100th concert at The Gardens and it was spectacular!  So let’s see where Billy takes me next!

Our second surprise this week was hearing about the Winter Storm hitting the South of Texas. Our next destination!

Rob and I were set to leave this morning to visit San Antonio and Austin. Texas is a state I have yet to explore and we thought it would be a great to hit the live music scene in Austin and visit the Alamo and Riverfront Walk we had heard so much about from friends. However as luck would have it, our plans have now changed thanks to the storm. The Cappuccitti Curse strikes again. Our flight is now leaving on Friday when the weather is looking a little more promising. San Antonio will have to wait until next time but Austin we are coming for you!
