On The Road Again

Packed up and made our way home last week, with a few little stops along the way to help ease the drive home and also begin acclimatizing to the weather.

Dublin Donuts For The Win

Our first pitstop was St. Augustine, which claims to be the oldest US city and a mere 4-hour drive from Delray. I guess Florida was 😔 sad to see us go because it rained throughout most of our visit. We decided to take the Old Town Trolley much to Rob’s relief instead of walking. The tour highlighted some of the historical significance and made a stop right near a Key Lime Pie shop.

Love me some Key Lime Pie

Heading out of St. Augustine we happened to find another Bucc-ee’s, so we stopped to grab some pulled pork and Brisket sandwiches to fill our bellies for the next leg.

Okay, it's really good for truck stop food! Trust me!

If you see one...you must stop!

Our second stop was Savannah, Georgia and the weather was perfect for us to stretch our legs for a couple of hours and take in the old town and the river walk. Things were still going St Patrick’s day strong on March 18th, so we definitely had lots to see 😂! I would love to go back again and stay a little longer, it felt like a great place to explore even more!

That night we stopped in Walterboro, North Carolina, only an hour away from Savannah and our half way point to Alexandria, Virginia. We got to the hotel around 9:30 pm and settled in to get some rest in the quiet little town.

Public Transit is the way to go in Washington i

The next day we got up early and made our way to the nation’s capital city. It's Rob’s first time in Washington and I'm excited to see his reaction to it! The drive was long and boring but we eventually got to our hotel in Virginia and we made it with enough time to check out The National Mall. There is nothing like seeing the majestic monuments and memorials, stately buildings and history all in one place.

The State Capital....This is where it happened

*Travel tip: Stay outside of Washington where the hotels are half of the price and have free parking and breakfast. We stayed in Alexandria right across from a metro station and it only took 20 mins to get to the core.

Washington is a very walkable city, and we (more me) love to explore by walking around. We only had a day and a half so we had no time to waste, and I think we did pretty well. We hit 3 Smithsonian Museums, had dinner with a colleague of Rob’s at the famous Old Ebbitt Grill, took a night tour of the monuments and White House, walked Georgetown and figured out we still need to come back and do more!

Before our last leg home, we stopped in Old Alexandria for a coffee and a little walk before the 8 hour drive. Super cute, loved all the waterfront restaurants and local shops.

It had a Ross, which made me like the town even more!

Waterfront in Old Alexandria

We’ve been home since Tuesday night and it's been a bit of a blur. Cinapri’s don’t rest and always try to make each day memorable. So we managed to head to the Mirvish theatre to watch Hamilton, hosted an Early Easter family dinner on Friday, had a celebration for Greg and Chris (our cousins 50th birthday) and fit in a few visits with friends. But the best part of this time at home was having the kids with us most of all.

Hamilton - Finally got to see it!

It's been a busy week and yes you guessed it we aren't the airport right now heading to our next adventure.

All Packed and Ready to GO!

Stay tuned, this is going to be a trip filled with adventure...
